MARLEY MASSEY

Environmental Multidisciplinary Artist

Marley Massey (b.1998, Maryland) is a multidisciplinary environmental artist based in Philadelphia, PA. Through the use of clay, photography and recycled materials, her multidisciplinary practice is rooted in the act of noticing and interpreting temporal elemental activity and celestial cycles.Chosen colorways mimic seasonality, solstices, equinoxes, and hues sweeping throughout the sky. The recurring use of circles depicting the sun and moon represent the rhythmic repetition and cyclical nature of earth's processes. Her work in clay specifically serves as a conduit, echoing the earth to sky connection, and the fleeting transient conditions occurring in between.Marley received a BFA from Salisbury University in 2019 and an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2022. In 2021, she was an artist in residence at MassMoCA and has exhibited her work in various regional group shows. In the Fall of 2025, she was a Visiting Ceramics Instructor at Salisbury University in Maryland. She is currently based in Philadelphia, PA, where she teaches ceramics at Black Hound Clay Studio South and The Clay Studio.Email: [email protected]
